Becoming a Staff-Development Leader in Wyoming

Wyoming
In Wyoming, the nurse who leads staff education and training is commonly known as a Staff Development Coordinator / In-Service Coordinator. It’s a valued, higher-responsibility role — and we can help you prepare for it and grow your long-term-care career.
Wyoming does NOT define a distinct 'Director of Staff Development' credential. Oversight is split: the Wyoming State Board of Nursing certifies CNAs and reviews training syllabi through its Education Committee, while the Department of Health's Office of Healthcare Licensing and Surveys approves training programs and runs the registry. Instructor and in-service requirements track the federal floor (42 CFR 483.151-.154 and the 12-hour annual in-service), so the person who leads training is the RN who meets the federal instructor standard (2 years' experience, 1 in long-term care) and whose program/syllabus is approved by OHLS and the WSBN Education Committee. There is no separate individual DSD certificate to earn; confirm the exact instructor specifics with OHLS/WSBN, as Wyoming publishes them through policy/forms rather than a detailed standalone regulation.
