Keeping skills current
8.370.16 NMAC (§27(F)) requires facility educational/in-service programs to be conducted quarterly but sets no state-specific annual hour count above the federal minimum — follows the federal 12 hrs/yr (42 CFR 483.95). Orientation is required before assuming duties and completed within 30 days (§27(E)).
Stepping into the role
No separate state instructor-experience overlay was located; New Mexico relies on the federal 42 CFR 483.152 standard (primary instructor must be an RN with 2 years' nursing experience, at least 1 in long-term care), with training programs approved by the HCA Division of Health Improvement.
