In-Service Coordinator / Staff Development Coordinator (no statutory title; the rule requires the in-service program be conducted by an RN under the director of nursing services)
Keeping skills current
State rule requires an 'active in-service nursing education program... in effect for all nursing personnel,' in writing, showing frequency, with attendance/progress records (111-8-56-.04(10)-(11)) — but sets no numeric annual hours. Nurse aides therefore follow the federal 12 hrs/yr (42 CFR 483.95).
Stepping into the role
State overlay: NATP Program Coordinator and Instructor(s) must be Georgia-licensed nurses; the instructor must be an RN with 2 years of nursing experience, including 1 year as an RN in a long-term care facility. The facility in-service program itself must be 'developed and conducted by a registered nurse... under the direction of the director of nursing services' (111-8-56-.04(10)).

Georgia Department of Community Health (DCH) — Healthcare Facility Regulation Division licenses nursing homes; the Nurse Aide Training Program (NATP) / Nurse Aide Registry is administered for DCH by its contractor (Alliant/GMCF; testing via Credentia).
