Follows federal 12 hrs/yr (42 CFR 483.95). Ala. Admin. Code r. 420-5-10-.03(15) restates the federal floor verbatim: a performance review of every nurse aide at least once every 12 months plus regular in-service that is 'no less than 12 hours per year' targeting weaknesses found in those reviews. No Alabama overlay above 12.
Stepping into the role
Federal rule applies (42 CFR 483.152): nurse-aide training must be by, or under the general supervision of, an RN with >=2 years nursing experience, at least 1 year in long-term care. Alabama adds no stricter instructor-experience overlay in rule; ADPH approves the training program and maintains the Nurse Aide Registry.
