Keeping skills current
Follows federal 12 hrs/yr (42 CFR 483.95). Minn. R. 4658.0100 requires in-service 'sufficient to ensure the continuing competence' of employees but sets no higher hour count.
Stepping into the role
Primary instructor must be an RN with at least 2 yrs licensed nursing experience, at least 1 yr in long-term care (mirrors 42 CFR 483.152). MDH additionally requires a curriculum-specific 'Train-the-Trainer' certificate to teach the Minnesota State Nurse Aide Curriculum.
