Commonly called
Nursing Assistant Education Program Director / Primary Instructor (the RN who runs facility staff development / the NATCEP); no titled 'staff development director' credential
Keeping skills current
Follows the federal floor (12 in-service hrs/yr at the employing facility, 42 CFR 483.95). Oregon does NOT add a state in-service-hour mandate; CNA renewal is instead employment-based — at least 400 paid CNA hours within the prior 2 years (OAR 851-062-0070), not continuing-education hours.
Stepping into the role
State overlay ON TOP of 42 CFR 483.152. The education program director and primary instructor must hold a current Oregon RN license with at least 2 years of RN experience; for a Nursing Assistant Level 1 (CNA1) program the director (or all primary instructors) must additionally have at least 1 year of long-term-care experience; and each must show a completed course in teaching adults OR at least 1 year experience teaching adults (e.g., in a staff-development or nurse-administrator role). Classroom ratio no more than 30 students per approved instructor (OAR 851-061-0080).
