Yes. Certificates include a unique certificate number and verification link for quick employer confirmation.
The DSD Certify course is a one-time $79 — no subscription and no renewal fee. That covers all 24 contact hours, the final exam, and a verifiable certificate you can hand to an employer.
Yes. California Health & Safety Code § 1337.4 requires every skilled nursing and intermediate care facility to designate a licensed nurse as its Director of Staff Development, responsible for the facility’s approved training program.
It depends on the facility’s licensed bed count and whether it also runs a certification program — ranging from 20 to 40 hours a week, or 26 to 93 hours a month. Our
guide to Title 22 § 71829 has the full table.
Your completion certificate does not expire. A DSD approved under the continuing-education pathway of § 71829(d)(2) owes 24 hours of CE in planning, implementing and evaluating nursing education within six months of taking the role, and a facility’s in-service program approval is renewed with the Department every two years. Always confirm current expectations with CDPH and your facility.
